How do I configure PHP to deliver mail?

PHP can be configured to deliver mail through SmarterMail.

1. Add the server's IP range to SmarterMail's Authetication Bypass:

2. Configure the PHP with the host name of the mail server:

Open php.ini for editing. This is typically found in \Program Files\PHP\php.ini or \Windows\php.ini. Search for 'SMTP' and edit the line line SMTP = localhost. Edit it to reflect the IP address or  host name you have configured for SmarterMail. For example:

SMTP = mail.daisyflowershop.com

Save the file and restart IIS.

How can I install MySQL?

The Microsoft Web Platform Installer can also be used to install MySQL. There isn't a direct option in the installer, or under the Database heading for that matter. You will need to select an application that has it as a dependency like WordPress. It will then ask you to specify a password for the root user.

Another concern is that the Web Platform Installer does not allow you to specify the installation path. This is an issue with MySQL because it will place the databases in the C (Windows) partition rather than the E. We recommend editing the MySQL configuration file (my.ini) to point the data directory to a path on the E drive.
